Century Air is an FAA Part 141 Approved flight school located at Essex County Airport (KCDW – also referred to as Caldwell Airport) in Fairfield, New Jersey, approximately 30 minutes from New York City. Founded in 1975 by an American Airlines captain, Century Air has trained thousands of pilots – from first time student pilots earning their Private Pilot Certificate (PPL) to career professionals pursuing their Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.

Our flight training programs include all general aviation certificates and ratings: Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot, Multi-Engine Rating, Flight Instructor (CFI/CFII/MEI), and flight training for ATP. Century Air is an FAA Approved Part 141 school and all courses are approved by the FAA under Part 141 and can also be conducted under Part 61.

Century Air is approved for International Students (TSA/M-1 Visa), Veterans (GI Bill), and NJ State Workforce Programs, and is affiliated with Utah Valley University (UVU) for online accredited aviation courses. We are partnered with Republic Airways give our graduates opportunity for a clear pathway to the airlines.

Century Air is one of a select few schools in the country approved for both initial and recurrent simulator training for aircraft owners and is home to both the Mentor G1000 and Full-Motion Redbird MCX simulators for beginner and advanced training.

Our Simulator Training Center features two state-of-the-art AATD simulators: the Mentor Garmin G1000 and Redbird Full Motion MCX. Both simulators allow student pilots and experienced aviators to master the G1000 glass cockpit – the avionics suite found in the 172SP aircraft and many modern aircraft – before ever leaving the ground. The Full-Motion MCX offers both single and multi-engine aircraft configurations and can simulate a variety of single or twin-engine aircraft such as Cessna 172, Twin Comanche and Baron BE-58. The simulators are utilized for IFR and VFR training, instrument currency, and airline interview preparation training. Pilots training on our simulators are able to gain valuable experience and confidence from training that cannot normally be demonstrated in the aircraft.
