Century Air is a FAA Part 141 Approved flight school located at Essex County Airport (KCDW, also commonly known as Caldwell Airport) in Fairfield, New Jersey, approximately 30 minutes from New York City. Our training facilities have been developed and refined over 50 years of professional operations and are designed to support every stage of your pilot training, from your first ground school lesson through your final check-ride/flight-test preparation. Professional Atmosphere

Century Air’s training facility at Essex County Airport is maintained to a professional standard that reflects the quality of instruction delivered inside it. From the moment you arrive at our Fairfield, New Jersey location, you will find a clean, organized, and welcoming environment designed for serious pilot training. Our dispatch team is available Monday through Friday 8 AM to 7 PM and weekends 8 AM to 6 PM to assist you.

Academic Environment

Flight training is as much an academic discipline as it is a practical skill. Our training center is quiet and free of distractions, with a dedicated independent study room where you can complete your on-line coursework, prepare for your next flight lesson or study for your Private Pilot, Instrument, Commercial or Flight Instructor FAA written examinations at your own pace. Passing your FAA written exams requires focused study time, and Century Air’s facility offers students a quiet, independent space to conduct your personal studies. Our training facilities consist of two large buildings – the Flight Training Center and the Simulator Training Center. Both facilities are equipped with classrooms, independent study rooms, quiet rooms, lounge and kitchen areas for our students to complete every aspect of their training on-site at the Essex County Airport.

Educational Facilities

Century Air’s classrooms are configured for one-on-one and small group instruction, providing a personalized learning environment that larger flight schools cannot replicate. Many of our instructors are selected from among the most skilled and accomplished graduates of Century Air’s professional pilot programs, while others are experienced career instructors who have dedicated their professional lives to teaching and developing pilots with Century Air. This unique combination of airline-focused professionals and seasoned aviation educators gives our students the benefit of knowledgeable, skilled, and dedicated instructors who understand not only how to fly, but how to teach—and what it takes to become a safe, confident, and successful pilot.

Our Aircraft

Century Air operates a large fleet of Cessna (P, SP and G1000 models), Piper and Cirrus aircraft giving students experience in a variety of aircraft types from initial training through advanced professional and transition training. Safety and aircraft maintenance are among our highest priorities, and our fleet is maintained as part of a comprehensive, ongoing maintenance program designed to exceed FAA minimum requirements.

Students can train with confidence knowing that Century Air is committed to maintaining the airworthiness, reliability, and high standards of every aircraft used in our programs at Essex County Airport. Students may also train in their own aircraft, whether pursuing a certificate or rating, completing recurrent or proficiency training, or receiving aircraft-specific instruction. All aircraft used for training at Century Air must meet our standards for airworthiness and safety before being accepted into our training programs.
