Academic Environment
Flight training is as much an academic discipline as it is a practical skill. Passing your FAA written examinations requires focused study time, and Century Air’s facility is designed to support that work. Our training center is quiet and free of distractions, with a dedicated study environment where you can prepare for your Private Pilot, Instrument, Commercial, or ATP written examinations at your own pace. Our academic environment is supported by our Garmin G1000 glass-cockpit simulator, available for avionics familiarization and IFR procedure practice between flight sessions.

Educational Facilities
Century Air’s classrooms are configured for one-on-one and small group instruction, providing a personalized learning environment that larger flight schools cannot replicate. Our computer-equipped study room gives students access to digital ground training programs, FAA written exam preparation tools, and hundreds of hours of supplemental aviation learning content that reinforces what you learn in the classroom and in the aircraft. Study materials are available during all dispatch hours and can be accessed flexibly around your flight schedule at our Essex County Airport training center.

Our Team of Professionals
Century Air’s flight instructors are FAA certified and experienced across a wide range of aircraft types and training environments. Our instructors are led by Richard Greene, a retired American Airlines Captain, FAA Designated Examiner, and the President of Century Air, who has set the standard for flight instruction at our facility since the school’s founding in 1975. Many of our CFI graduates have gone on to fly for Republic Airways, JetBlue, Frontier, and other regional and major airlines, reflecting the quality of instruction that begins in our classrooms and aircraft at Essex County Airport.

Our Aircraft
Century Air’s diverse training fleet includes Cessna, Piper, Beechcraft, TBM, Cirrus, and Mooney aircraft, giving students exposure to a range of aircraft types from initial training through advanced transition training. All aircraft are maintained well above FAA minimum standards as part of our insurance-approved maintenance program. Century Air is one of a select number of insurance-approved initial and recurrent training centers in the United States, meaning both student pilots and certificated pilots with their own aircraft train with confidence in the safety and quality of our fleet at Essex County Airport.
