FAA Flight Tests and Checkrides in New Jersey: Two DPEs, Teterboro FSDO, All Aircraft Types

All pilot applicants must successfully complete an FAA practical test, commonly known as a checkride, to earn each pilot certificate or rating. Century Air has two FAA Designated Pilot Examiners (DPEs) on staff at Essex County Airport (KCDW), also known as Caldwell Airport, in Fairfield, New Jersey—conveniently located approximately 30 minutes from New York City.

The Teterboro Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) serves Northern New Jersey, including Essex County Airport (KCDW), Teterboro (KTEB), Lincoln Park, Morristown (KMMU), and other area airports.

FAA practical tests, commonly known as checkrides, are administered by FAA Designated Pilot Examiners (DPEs) who are authorized to conduct tests for specific pilot certificates and ratings. Before scheduling a checkride, applicants must meet all applicable FAA requirements, complete the IACRA application (FAA Form 8710-1), and receive the required instructor endorsements confirming their readiness for the practical test.

Century Air is proud to have two FAA Designated Pilot Examiners on staff, providing our students with knowledgeable and experienced FAA examiners right here at our training center at Essex County Airport. Applicants may also choose any appropriately authorized FAA Designated Pilot Examiner.

The Teterboro Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) has jurisdiction over all general aviation airports in Northern New Jersey, including Essex County Airport (KCDW), Teterboro Airport (KTEB), Lincoln Park Airport (KLIC), Morristown Municipal Airport (KMMU), and others. Pilots whose home airport is within the Teterboro District may schedule their FAA checkride with Century Air’s Designated Pilot Examiners at Essex County Airport in Fairfield, NJ, or in some cases at their home airport.
