Congratulations Scholarship Winner, Saki Chen!
Student pilot, Saki Chen (seen here with her instructor, Greg Adair), has been awarded the 2012 Dodie Riach Memorial Scholarship, which she intends to use toward obtaining her PPL. Saki hails from Sichuan, China. She has recently graduated from law school and has also passed the bar exam. She is a special contributor for several Chinese aviation magazines and plans to specialize in aviation and aerospace law. Saki completed her first solo flight in early May. Keep up the great work! We are proud to have you training with Century Air.
The Five Asdal Sisters – all pilots and graduates of Century Air!
Congratulations to Charlotte Asdal, the youngest of five sisters who have graduated flight training courses with Century Air. Charlotte, 18, (above), achieved her private pilot license on February 10th and has already started working on her instrument rating. She will be graduating high school this spring, and is planning on attending the US Naval Academy in June, where she will be studying Arabic and hopes to eventually become a Foreign Area Officer. Congratulations, Marwan!
In 2009, at the young age of 18, Marwan Omaira, came from Egypt on an M-1 Visa to attend professional flight training at Century Air. He received his private pilot certificate and instrument rating in one year, and then returned to Egypt. Marwan came back to Century Air last fall, and completed his professional training, achieving his commercial pilot certificate on December 18th. Century Air’s New Chief Flight Instructor
We are very proud to announce that Fred Hartman has accepted the position of Chief Flight Instructor for Century Air. Fred has been working as a part-time flight instructor with Century Air for the past four years, while he was also working as a full-time teacher in Hillsdale public school. He recently retired the public school after 32 years, and is now continuing his teaching career full-time in aviation. Private Pilot Certificate in less than two months!
Anna Varvarkina arrived from Russia on July 4th in hopes of obtaining her private pilot certificate in only 7 weeks. While that was a very challenging goal in itself, she also needed to find a place to live, and a form of transportation on very limited funds. Anna quickly found a room for rent (7 miles from Caldwell Airport) and borrowed a bicycle to peddle her way to school every day. Century Air now operates the only Garmin G1000 aircraft simulator in the Northeast
Students can now learn the G1000 systems in the simulator and transition to the aircraft with complete confidence to operate the modern TAA equipment. There are only 65 of these “real” G1000 simulators in the world. The simulator is equipped with the GFC-700 autopilot and flight director, and offers a world-wide data base of airports, airline quality visuals and all weather (and flight) scenarios.
